Building Blocks Tuesday - guest blogger

Image
Today, I have the honor to be guest blogger for Jen at  Quilter in the Closet   for her Building Blocks Tuesday.  Welcome if you are new here and coming from Jen's blog. Jen started the linky party while I was in a swap with her, a while ago and I have been trying to link up with her as often as possible.  I love the idea of a block linky party because I am not industrious and able to produce a quilt every other week! And also this year I have been particularly busy making blocks with the quilt along etc I have joined Let me show you the blocks I made recently and then why not linking yours in the linky party below? This week I have made blocks that we should never have to make, I made 2 blocks for the #quiltforjo drive. These blocks will be made into quilts for Jo Cox's family. If you don't know who Jo Cox is, she is a UK MP who was murdered during the campaign for/against the Brexit. She is leaving behind her family including 2 young children. So sad and unnecess

A new project

Image
I have finished a few this month so I guess I am allowed to start one (or more!) new projects now. This one has a deadline so it should help to keep me focused! Another very close friend turned 40 earlier this year and I will have the great pleasure to spend some time with her soon so I thought it would be the perfect time to gift her a quilt. So far, I have just selected the fabric (all from my stash I am proud to say!) and started the cutting of the strips (I still need to cut the background fabric) So far I have sewn one set of strips together.... only 17 more to do - one block! The last step for my Stems and Stones quilt was of course the binding and I had ordered special fabric for it, which I waited for until the very last minute... until I realised it wouldn't get here in time. At this stage (on Friday) there was no other option than raid my stash and find a fabric that would work. I found a colourful print that had similar colour palette and went for it.  So the binding was sewn on Friday night ready to be hand stitch on Saturday, in the car back to France.  The party (70s style!) was on Saturday night. Of course my quilt was finished on time and I think my friend loved it! And my secret messages in the quilting! Quilt stats:  Fabric: Kaffe Fassett and Kona cotton white all from my stash!
